Yamaha Rhino

CVT Filter Install

If you take your Rhino to the dunes, adding a filter to the CVT (clutch vent tube) breather is a must. Without a CVT filter, your Rhino's transmission can suck in sand and contaminate your clutches. Yamaha engineers must think no one actually rides in the sand.

Yamaha Rhino - CVT Filter

To install the CVT filter, remove the driver's seat. The cover for the intake tube is right there.  Remove the four phillips screws on the front of the cover and one on the back (tilt the bed for easy access).

Take the cover off and slip the air filter over the tube.  The tube is oval so make sure your filter is snug, but not so tight that it folds the tube.

Yamaha Rhino - CVT Filter - UNI Air Filter

Since this is a breather, it is not necessary to oil the filter.
