The New Hampton Fire Department was established in 1877 and
has since been proudly serving the community and the surrounding area.
Located in the county seat of rural Chickasaw county, the New Hampton
Volunteer Fire Department protects more than 98 square miles of fire
district with approximately 5400 citizens. Greater than 95% (93.1 square
miles) of the fire district is rural land consisting of farmland, grassland,
cropland, and other open space in a moderately rough terrain.
The New Hampton Fire Department was formed in 1877. During
the department's many years of service, they have always tried to have the
most efficient and up-to-date equipment. The Polaris Ranger 6x6 is the
newest vehicle in this line.
The money to pay for the Polaris Ranger and modifications
was received through a grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG).
AFG helps firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically
needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other
resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and
related hazards. AFG is administered by FEMA.
