From Gecko Road, take the Sand Highway south until it ends
above Dune Buggy Flats
From Buttercup, travel west to the Gordons Well I-8
overpass. It is legal to cross the bridge on OHVs. Take a right
at the "T" (left would take you to Pair-A-Dice).
Getting the from the Highway
Take the Gordons Well exit off of I-8. Go north.
At "T", go right past dumpsters and over the canal. Pay
station is just past the canal.

New Border Fence on the south side of Interstate 8
Imperial Sand Dunes, west of Yuma, Ariz. – A stretch of border fence
directly south of where Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was murdered by
drug traffickers in January 2008. Agent Aguilar was killed by the driver of
a drug load vehicle that drove unhindered into the U.S. across the Imperial
Sand Dunes. The Department of Homeland Security has now constructed fence
along 359 miles of the nation’s Southwest border.
All American Canal Lining Project
The new concrete lined section of the All American Canal
will result in the conservation of 67,700 acre-feet per year of Colorado
River water currently lost to seepage. The project is a 23 mile long water
conveyance project that replaces the unlined canal with a concrete-lined
canal.
Construction period is from June 2007 - March 2010.
OHV access at popular areas like Test Hill will be
maintained.
Pair-A-Dice (aka Duner's Diner) is just west of the Gordons Well exit on I-8.
