Description:
The Morro Bay sand spit is a unique barrier of sand dunes separating Morro
Bay from the Pacific Ocean. The sand spit is now a protected area called the Morro
Dunes Natural Preserve. The sand spit forms the northern extension of
Montana de Oro State Park.
Off-highway vehicles and sandboarding are no longer allowed.

Other information:
Easiest way to access the Morro Dunes Natural Preserve is by
boat or kayak. Access by land, take Los Osos Valley Rd. west, then turn
right onto Sand Spit Rd.
