South of Interstate 10 at Wiley's Well Rd.

Description:

Chuckwalla Valley is a unique confluence of a wash and a small dune system.

Federal Register: Proposed Order for Temporary Closure of Selected Routes of Travel or Areas

The proposed closure is to provide interim protection for the desert tortoise, desert tortoise habitat, and other resource values from motorized vehicle use authorized under the CDCA Plan.

• The entire are is part of the Chuckwalla Valley Dune Thicket Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC)

• Chuckwalla Mountains Wilderness are nearby
