A few observations from the show
from DuneGuide.com:
1.Bigger than ever. The Sand Sports Super Show seems to continue to
squeeze in more and more vendors. You can easily loose yourself at the show for
a few days. I do not see any sort of decline in sand sports segment.
2.Can you say RHINO? Wow, the Rhino market is coming on hard.
Lots of Rhinos at the show. Many new long travel kits, roll cages, seats,
and bling at the show.
3.Not much new in the min-rail sector this year. Quicksand
Performance had a new design, but other than not much new. I had expected
to see more companies catering to the mini-rail market this year. I think there
were more mini-rail builders at lasts years show. And even those that have been
around a while had run-of-the-mill booths.
4.Surprised to see Two Funco's with airbags full of air to raise the
ride height and with big paddle tires. Funco has always remained steadfast
to their stance on slot car like handling. Seeing them up in the air like that
must make Gil sick to his stomach. But that is what the typical Sand Show
visitor wants to see, so what do you do?
5.For the normal sand car segment, it was the year of financing,
windshields, heated seats, V8s and sway bars. Still lots of bling to be had, but
otherwise lots more of the same with a few new builders cropping up.
