Two Seat Rear Engine Sand Car
Jess Motorsports Off-Road
R2x Holeshot from Jess Motorsports Off-Road
Wish list for new sand car:
Two seats
Rear engine V8
Make it nimble
Make it stable
Able to pull wheelies, without being too light up front
Smooth ride
Jess Motorsports Off-Road took that wish list and produced the
super clean car you see here.
Jess Motorsports is located in Northern California and custom
builds each car to their customers' specifications. They start with a base
chassis, but allow customers to shorten or stretch the wheelbase, and tailor
certain other part of the chassis to meet their customer's desires.
The result in this case is a two seat, rear engine sand car that
sports a 500 HP LS2, a 117 inch wheelbase and an extra-wide stance.
The R2x has a very wide stance that helps make the relatively short
wheelbase feel very stable.
The cab forward design helps move weight forward for better balance.
Up front, the dual rate 2.5" x 12" Fox internal bypass shocks are
sloped inward and raked back
for a very clean look. The front suspension shock angle allows a 12 inch shock
to obtain 28 inches of travel. The end result is a plush ride and a car that can
jump.
The R2X Holeshot features a rear a-arm design with Fox triple bypass and 2
1/2 inch
coilover springs. Their rear a-arm design allows the upper and lower a-arm to
travel in the same plane making it easier on CVs while minimizing axle plunge to
around 3/4 of an inch. It also allows full adjustment of toe and camber and has
less than a degree of total camber gain through the 26 inches of travel.
The design for the adjustable HID light rack is very slick.
Not only are they mounted aft of the driver to reduce glare, but
they can fully retract out of the way.
